Replace an appliance with a new unit

Swapped in a new water heater or fridge? Replace keeps the old unit's history and starts the new one fresh.

Updated July 6, 2026

When the physical unit changes, don't delete the record — replace it. The old unit is archived with its full service history, and the new one gets its own schedule from day one.

  1. Open the appliance and click the Replace with a new unit button (the two arrows).
  2. Enter the new unit's brand and model — and its type, if that changed too.
  3. Save. The new unit takes the old one's place, with fresh manufacturer tasks.
Tip: The nameplate on the new unit has everything you need — brand, model, and serial are usually on one sticker.
